Three Words

I wrapped three words
in a box
and signed
and sent

You opened the box
and smiled
and cried
and took them to heart

And in my folly I took
back the words
and made you feel
that they were not real

I now wrap
the three words in a box
Return not to sender
For they couldn't be more real

  1. Your poetry brings haiku(japanese poetry) to mind, so distilled yet complete. That is rare

  2. Thank you Wamaitha; can you believe I didn't know about haiku until just a few weeks ago?! Someone suggested the same thing, then checked it out.
    I'm glad you like.
